Avoid extremes, excesses, & complacency

Poem shared from women’s weekend retreat (1/5/2013)

* * *

Do you think you can take over

the universe and improve it?

I believe it cannot be done.

The universe is sacred.

You cannot improve it.

If you try to change it,

you will ruin it.

If you try to hold it, you will lose it.

So sometimes things are ahead

and sometimes they are behind;

Sometimes breathing is hard

and sometimes it comes easily.

Sometimes there is strength

and sometimes weakness;

Sometimes one is up

and sometimes down.

Therefore the sage avoids extremes,

excesses, and complacency.

    this poem was in thje back of Ihotus moms book too. What was that book called? the Natural Woman or something like that. We all read it and loved it at your house. It doesnt put so much pressure on us to change the messed up systems in place but we can make a difference through our daily interactions. thanks for doing the first post. IM
